Are loss landscapes continuous?
whenever i've seen someone plot the loss landscape for a given network, it's always cut off at some seemingly arbitrary bounds, presumably for the sake of displaying a graph but i'm wondering: do they continue on in all directions? or do they have some defined edge? and if so, what is it that defines the edge for a given network's loss landscape?
my intuition would tell me that although you can't visualize an infinite loss landscape, they probably are continuous, but i'd like to understand why or why not?
