Angular 6 and REST - Observables
Can anyone explain to me what this function means?
getCat(name: string): Observable<Cat> {
return this.http.get<Cat>('http://localhost:8000/api/cats/' + name);
}
I know what the code does, but what do these parts stand for:
get <Cat>
Observable <Cat>
I am asking: why do we create the functions in such a way?
I took it from:

angular rest

get<Cat> .. Cast the response of Get Request to Cat class Observable<Cat> .. Return an observable of type Cat.. As Get Request is asynchronous, anyone calling this function can subscribe to the result and get resultant Cat object
