Testing the signalEventReceived(“SignalName”) in RuntimeService()

0

I have Intermediate Signal Catch Event and need to trigger it by throwing Signal using below code:

ProcessEngines.getDefaultProcessEngine().getRuntimeService().signalEventReceived("SignalName");

I tried this code from the java classes that is used by User Task and Service Task but the event is not trigger, but I am able to trigger it by using SignalThrowingEvent within the workflow it self.
So where is the problem?
Is it because this code is only possible to use it from outside the process (by another program which will call the java class that execute this code) and can not be run from java class that is used by the process activities?
I am used Java Activiti PBMN.
Regards
Bilal
