Mobile Platform Service
I know this is pretty borderline in terms of the type of questions I'm supposed to ask here, but I'm going for it anyway.
My company uses a custom-built system running on SQL Server and the .NET Framework to do things like keep track of customers, employee hours, service histories, etc.
We're looking to find a way to communicate with technicians working in the field. We need to be able to send them basic information like where they should go and what work they need to do, and they need to be able to reply with what work was done and when. We want to do this with a mobile app as opposed to a website, but we don't want to completely write our own cross-platform mobile app from the ground up.
I'm envisioning that some sort of "mobile platform service" should exist somewhere. A service that lets you design forms to work on a pre-build platform which handles authentication and mobile communication. One that will let you interface via an API and integrate your own custom backend.
I know I'm not supposed to ask for recommendations on products or software, but I would really like to know if there is a name for this type of thing so I can research it myself, cause I don't really know where to start. (And if you happen to know of a specific service that does this than I'll take the name of that too).
