Can I monitor the status of a locally opened application through ssh -X?

I am using ssh -X to connect to my remote machine. I work both locally and remotely in that machine (same user), and I wonder if there is an option to monitor or continue working in a locally open process.

For example, say I open RStudio locally, I start doing computations, I leave it processing, and then I want to remotely monitor those computations. Is this possible?
