Javascript - Can't copy to clipboard with contextmenu EventListener (right click copy to clipboard)
function copyTextToClipboard(text) {
var textArea = document.createElement("textarea");
textArea.style.position = 'fixed';
textArea.style.top = 0;
textArea.style.left = 0;
textArea.style.width = '2em';
textArea.style.height = '2em';
textArea.style.padding = 0;
textArea.style.border = 'none';
textArea.style.outline = 'none';
textArea.style.boxShadow = 'none';
textArea.style.background = 'transparent';
textArea.value = text;
document.body.appendChild(textArea);
textArea.select();
document.execCommand('copy');
document.body.removeChild(textArea);
}
var allOrders = document.getElementsByClassName('infoRow');
for (var i = 0; i < allOrders.length; i++)
{
allOrders[i].addEventListener('contextmenu', function(e){
e.preventDefault();
copyTextToClipboard('test');
});
}
I'm trying to copy 'test' to my clipboard when using right click on a certain div. I think its not working because javascript doesnt see right click as an user initiated event. The code works when i change the EventListener to 'click', but i want right click.

Right clicking is also a click event. You need to check inside the event handler which mousebutton caused the event.
