Properly update subtypes

I'm trying to write Update method that will update properties of a given object. To make the example simple imagine, I have 2 classes:
public class Person
{
public string Name;
public virtual void Update(Employee parent)
{
this.Name= parent.Name;
}
}
public class Employee : Parent
{
public string Id;
public override void Update(Parent parent)
{
base.Update(parent);
var employee = parent as Employee;
this.Id= employee.Id;
}
}
Casting inside Update method does not seem good idea.
Is there a better way to do Update?
