Pycuda string matching

0

I am trying to compare two string using GPU by means of pycuda. This has to be then used for millions of files, where a target word has to be searched in all those files. I am new to cuda programming and have only a basic overview of C. The idea of the code is to check if the strings match and if it does it should return an int value{0,1}.

import numpy
import pycuda.autoinit
import pycuda.driver as cuda
import pycuda.driver as drv
from pycuda.compiler import SourceModule

mod = SourceModule("""
__global__ void evaluateTwoWords(int *out,char *a, char *b)
{
int i = blockIdx.x * blockDim.x +threadIdx.x;
if(a[i] == b[i]){ out[i] = 1; }
else{ out[i] = 0; }
}
""")

cuda_db1=mod.get_function("evaluateTwoWords")
file_terms=numpy.array("hey",dtype=str)
bin_terms=numpy.array("hello",dtype=str)
dest=numpy.array(0,dtype=int)
func=mod.get_function("evaluateTwoWords")
func(drv.Out(dest),drv.In(file_terms),drv.In(bin_terms),block=(400,1,1),grid=(1,1))
print(dest)

The output result I am getting is 4294967297. What went wrong?
