Node - How to pass app specific variables to static app depending on the vhost

0

I have node applications that looks for a specific vhost app1.domain.com (app2, app3 etc) and then serves some static content (index_1/2/3.html/js/scss).

I want to pass some config/app specific variables to the static app depending on the vhost. How could i do this?

    this.app = app;
this.config = new Config();

this.static = express.Router();

this.static.use((req, res, next) => {
const subhost = req.vhost[0];
req.url = `/${subhost}${req.url}`;
next();
});

// TODO: how to pass static variables here depending on the vhost (req.url)
this.static.use(serveStatic(path.join(__dirname, 'public')));

this.app.use(vhost("*.localhost", this.static));

this.app.use("/api/v1/core", CoreRouter);

Side: do you think a better approach would be for each vhost app to query some endpoint (via their index.js file) to get their app specific variables instead of trying to pass these vairables directly when serving the static content.
