htaccess font gzip problems
hi i have a problem on gzipping font files.
alctually i have this code for gzip and it works fine on all file:
<ifModule mod_gzip.c>
mod_gzip_on Yes
mod_gzip_minimum_file_size 500
mod_gzip_maximum_file_size 500000
mod_gzip_dechunk Yes
mod_gzip_item_include file .(html|txt|css|js|php|pl|ico|cur|ttf|woff)$
mod_gzip_item_include handler ^cgi-script$
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^text/.*
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^application/x-javascript.*
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^application/x-font-ttf
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^application/x-font-woff
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^image/x-cursor
mod_gzip_item_exclude mime ^image/.*
mod_gzip_item_exclude rspheader ^Content-Encoding:.*gzip.*
</ifModule>
i have added the header (MINE type) on fonts file:
AddType application/x-font-ttf .ttf
AddType application/x-font-woff .woff
but on testing i receive always:
WARNING - (168.7 KB, compressed = 107.2 KB - savings of 61.4 KB) - https://www.paris-web.it/fonts/segoepr.ttf
and in fact they miss the header Content-Encoding: gzip

So, completely different thing than what you were thinking of: do not use gzip compression for fonts. Ever. Serve your fonts aswoff2
and make sure they're compressed, as per the woff2 spec, using the brotli compression algorithm. Said algorithm is much better than gzip for the kind of data that is in fonts. And then don't try to recompress them, because that will just lead to increased bytesize, not decreased bytesize. Also never, ever, serve ttf fonts. There is not a single browser in which that makes sense.
