Handle addition of firestore documents in multiple orderBy pagination query
I am struggling for quite a while now trying to achieve a live pagination.
I have the following query:
getBatch(offset: { prio: number, posted: Date} | null) {
return this.db
.collection('jobs', ref =>
ref.orderBy('prio')
.orderBy('posted', 'desc')
.startAfter(offset ? offset.prio: null, offset ? offset.posted: null)
.limit(10)
)
.stateChanges()
.pipe(...mapping the result - skipped for shortening...)
}
Basically the results are being accumulated in an array that is passed to an infinite-scroll
in ionic 4. The offset comes from the last rendered item on the infinite-scroll
.
Everything works fine, pagination works great, and data is being properly updated. The problem is when adding items to the jobs
collection. FYI, multiple documents can have the same prio
value, ranging from 0 to 5.
When a new document is being added the last document from the batch it suppose to go gets removed(to make space for the newly added one) and this makes that last removed document not belong to any batch now, losing any real time updates on it.
I hope I clearly exposed my scenario and hope someone with greater experience than myself would be kind enough to guide me on how to overcome this situation.
Thank you very much for your time!
