Problem using Dapper.SimpleSave to update complex object

0

I have the following two classes as part of a larger WinForms project.

 [Table("Project")]
public class Project
{
[PrimaryKey]
public int? Id { get; set; }
public string Name { get; set; }
public int CustomerId { get; set; }
public string Description { get; set; }
public string Reference { get; set; }
[OneToMany]
[Column("Id")]
public List<DocumentControl> DocumentControl { get; set; }
}

and

[Table("DocumentControl")]
public class DocumentControl
{
[PrimaryKey]
public int? Id { get; set; }
public string Editor { get; set; }
public string Comment { get; set; }
public DateTime Date { get; set; }
public string Version { get; set; }
}

After retrieving an instance from my database of Project (which has NO DocumentControl entries and is returned as null), I am creating two new DocumentControl entries and adding to the object. I am then passing the object back in to Update the DB entries. However, changes made to the Project model are fine and are saved back to the DB; but the List does not contain my new entries in the database; in the POCO it is no longer null when debugging, but has a count of 0.

I use the following method to update the database

public bool UpdateProject(Project project)
{
using (IDbConnection db = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["Adagnitio"].ConnectionString))
{
db.Open();
var originalProject = db.AutoQuery<Project>(new { Id = project.Id }).FirstOrDefault();
db.Update<Project>(originalProject, project);

db.Close();
return true;
}
}

Why is my updated Customer object missing the DocumentControl object entries ? Been banging my head against the desk on this one. I am sure I must be missing something simple!
