How to force AMI to use custom DNS server while using cloud-init
I have an account on AWS where I do not have control over the DNS server that our VPC uses. I do, however, need to have a DNS server that my aws servers can rely on to resolve domain and hostnames. I have a server that is running IPA on RHEL, but I can't seem to get my servers to point to that DNS server.
I also have scripts that need to run on initial startup that will be somewhat unique every time I generate a grouping of servers, so I need cloud-init installed.
Is there a way to either configure DNS on the RHEL machines after they have come online, or setup cloud-init to utilize a custom nameserver?
I looked into writing custom cfg files for my ami, but the change seems to keep getting overridden.
What I would like is to be able to make use of cloud-init to allow my user scripts to run and for it to setup the default DNS, but also to add a secondary DNS that points to my internal DNS server.
