Cannot select elements with :not(:last-child) selector

0

I'm trying to trying the first and second images of a container containing three images, so I used the :not(:last-child) selector, but it's not working.

#imageContainer img:not(:last-child) {
margin-right: 50px;
}

<div id="imageContainer">
<div>
<a href="#"><img src="image.png" alt=""></a>
</div>
<div>
<a href="#"><img src="image2.png" alt=""></a>
</div>
<div>
<a href="#"><img src="image3.png" alt=""></a>
</div>
</div>

    #imageContainer div:not(:last-child) a img{...} because image is the only child there you should target the parent who has siblings
