dot net core 2.1 - Serilog ApplicationInsightsTraces recording exception twice

I have created a basic asp .net core 2.1 web api application and I have configured Serilog

Log.Logger = new LoggerConfiguration()

                       .ReadFrom.Configuration(configuration)                       

                       .Enrich.FromLogContext()

                       .WriteTo.ApplicationInsightsTraces(appInsightsInstrumentationKey)

                       .CreateLogger();

In order to test the logging I do have below code in place

 public IActionResult Get([FromQuery] string fromDate, string toDate)

        {

            _logger.LogDebug($"####Debug message {DateTime.Now}");

            _logger.LogInformation($"####Information Message {DateTime.Now}");

            _logger.LogWarning($"####Warning message {DateTime.Now}");

            _logger.LogError($"####Error message {DateTime.Now.ToString()}");

            _logger.LogCritical($"####Critical message {DateTime.Now.ToString()}");

            _logger.LogTrace($"####Trace Message {DateTime.Now}");

            throw new Exception("My custom exception");

I can see all the messages ( i.e. Debug, information etc ) only once, however exception message is appearing twice in application insights.
