Using 2 MediaRecorders at the same time

I'd like to record 2 videos (with audio) at the same time.
I know how to use MediaRecorder for recording to mp4 file. If I capture only the video then it is possible to use 2 MediaRecorders and they both produce mp4 files with the video.
However if capture the Microphone using setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC) on both MediaRecorders and the second one fails to star (throws an exception). Seems they cannot share the microphone.
Is there a way 2 MediaRecorders to capture the microphone and to output the recording to 2 different mp4 files?
My end goal is to record video from the camera in chunks but I need to be able to later merge these chunks. That's way if I use only one MediaRecorder then there will be gaps between the chunks. The idea is to overlap the chunks for few seconds so there will be no gaps.
