React.cloneElement - key differs in cloned children
So I want to clone children passed to my component but it is crucial that the keys stays the same. What I did is this:
const clonedChildren = React.Children.map(children, (child) => {
const cloned = React.cloneElement(child, {
exposedKey: child.key,
});
console.log('Cloned child', { child, cloned }); // (1)
return cloned;
});
console.log('Children', { clonedChildren, children }); // (2)
The variables child
and cloned
logged in the (1)
have the same key, so that's ok, but the fun part is the next (2)
console.log
.
clonedChildren
is an array, but the key a cloned
was e.g. hello
, the key inside the clonedChildren
is now .$hello
.
Why is this happening and can I make it work the way I would expect it?
