What is the best way to texturize my C++ game?

0

I’ve been working on a little 2D adventure game over the past 6 months and so far output everything on the console window using the wchar_t characters. I’ve never went outside the console window so I am not sure where exactly to start texturing the game. Do I need to get into winapi or is there an engine or something to work with?

Also I know that stack overflow might not be the exact place to seek advice for this exact question but this seems the best.

See if SDL or SFML has anything that fits your needs.
